In our quest to understand Positive mental health and how it can be improved, we need to first begin with answering the important question; what is mental health?

Mental health refers to the state and well being of an individual’s mind and how this affects his or her relationship with; people/society, environment, and themselves; their self-esteem, ambition, habits, etc.

To put and define mental health more succinctly here is an appropriate definition from a United States Government site that deals with mental health issues.

“Mental health includes emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.”

Positive Mental health is the healthy mental state of an individual which helps them control their emotions, relate properly with other humans, manage stress, and live a normal healthy human life. There several approaches to bettering the mental health of individuals.

These approaches vary because they will depend on the diverse forms of mental health problems that we seek to address. Positive mental health can be achieved by several practices which include:

● Connecting with people
● Seeking professional help like that of a therapist
● Physical exercise

This evidence shows that much is still to be desired in the fight against this prevalent mental illness called anxiety disorder.
