Application And Features Of Jaw Crushers

The most common thing on the roads that attracts everybody’s attention is machinery. We are almost every time intrigued by a tractor ploughing fields, a parachute landing on Earth, a cement mixer at a construction site or any small or big machinery. Machines perform huge tasks very easily. The machines in the industry are very powerful. They run at great power and speed. Today, many machines are smart machines. They run on their own and don’t even need human interference. How these machines have evolved from scratch is quite an amazing journey.

One such powerful machine is the jaw crusher. As apparent from its name, a jaw crusher is a crushing machine. Basically, it breaks heavy material (such as rocks, stones and ores) into smaller pieces.

Application of Jaw Crushers:

The machine finds use in many industries including construction, metallurgy, mining and processing of ores, laboratories engaging in material research, ceramic industry, glass and granite industry, and many other industries. The jaw crusher is used for rapid crushing of materials of all hardness: hard, medium hard, brittle and tough materials. In a processing chain, the first task is always performed by the jaw crusher. The jaw crusher sits at the front in the whole processing chain.

Depending on the usage of the crushed material, the size of the crushed material can be fixed. The jaw crusher machine has settings that can be easily altered to define the size of the crushed material. These settings ensure that the output produced by the jaw crusher is of required size.

There are many types of Jaw crushers. The generally classified categories of jaw crushers include:

  1. Single toggle jaw crusher
  2. Double toggle Jaw Crusher

The Mechanism:

The Jaw crusher uses compression on the material that is fed into it to break the material. There are two jaws in the crusher. The jaws are vertically constructed to form a ‘V’ shape at the opening of the machine. This part is where the input to the machine is made. One of the jaws is swinging while the other one is fixed and doesn’t move. The swinging jaw moves back and forth creating pressure on the material to be crushed. A weighted flywheel is attached to the jaws. The flywheel moves the shaft, which in turn rotates the closing of the tow jaws at the bottom of the ‘V’ shape in a concentric motion. The rotating motion and the swinging jaw create inertia which crushes the material.

Jaw Crusher features:

Jaw crusher machines perform a heavy duty task thus the construction of the machine itself needs to be robust. The outer frame of the machine is made up of either steel or cast iron. The jaws are typically made of cast steel. There is manganese lining on the two jaws and the layer inside the machine is also made of Manganese steel.

Benefits of Jaw Crushers:

  • A jaw crusher has the capacity of reducing the input material to a ratio of 1:6.
  • The jaws are replaceable, thus throughout the life time of the machine, efficiency remains high.
  • The mechanism is simple and clean. The cleaning, thus, is simple.
  • The jaw crusher is not huge in size. So moving the machine from place to place is not a difficult task.
  • The adjustments provided allow you to define the size of the crushed material. Thus a desired size of the graduals can be obtained.
  • There are many jaw crusher manufactures in India. Maintaining and servicing these machines is not expensive.

If you are looking for a jaw crusher manufacturer in India, Shakti Mining is among the best in the industry. Shakti Mining has been operating in India since 1986 and is a renowned manufacturer and exporter of mining and crushing equipment.
